(UPDATE: The number of Obama campaign offices has expanded to four, with the addition of offices in Casper and Rock Springs. The Obama campaign will host phone banks and caucus trainings each night this week at Obama Headquarters in Casper.)
The Barak Obama for America presidential campaign is taking the Cowboy State very seriously, between now and the March 8th Democratic Caucus.

In a Tuesday announcement, the Obama campaign announced the opening of campaign offices in Cheyenne and Laramie, with a dozen campaign workers on their way or alread hard at work in Wyoming.

Obama State Director Gabe Cohen was joined by Senate Minority Caucus Chair Mike Massie in the conference call for Wyoming reporters. Cohen said the campaign takes Wyoming "very seriously," building on recent victories in Utah, Colorado and Idaho. Cohen said a dozen campaign staff have been dedicated to the Wyoming effort.
"I would remind Wyoming voters that they have until February 22 to get registered as Democrats, if they wish to participate in the March 8 caucus," said Cohen.
He also noted that Wyoming young people who will be 18 by March 8, can also register, even if they aren't 18 just yet.
Sen. Massie said he's been following the presidential campaigns for several months and decided to support Sen. Obama "because he will bring us together."

Massie said Obama's vision resonates with Wyoming issues and voters, with a strong emphasis on working families; work force development that will result in good-paying jobs; middle class tax relief; education; quality day care for working parents; access to health care for all; balance between economic development and environmental protection and investments in clean coal technology.
Massie said Obama has a strong record in both the Illinois Legislature and the U.S. Senate in supporting clean coal and clean energy research and development.

In a question and answer session with the press, Obama campaign workers noted that Sen. Obama's schedule is in flux and has not set a date and time for a Wyoming visit at this time. In a question about gun control, Sen. Massie said Obama supports gun rights.
The Cheyenne office opens Friday and will be at 415 W. 28th St. The Laramie office opens Saturday and is located at 215 S. Third Street.Phone numbers for the two offices will be available later this week at the campaign's web site: www.wyoming.barakobama.com.
