Sleeping Giant Ski Area expansion up for public comment

The Shoshone National Forest is asking for public input on the proposed expansion of the Sleeping Giant Ski area. The proposal would expand the special use permit granted to the managers of the ski area, and allow the addition of a zip line course for summer recreation and a snow tubing area for winter use. The changes also include the building of a caretaker’s residence at the site.

Comments on the proposed expansion – or requests for more details about it – can be sent to:

In response to the addition to Sleeping Giant, zip line use in the summer and snow tubing area in the summer, my husband and I support this proposal.
We have lived in Cody for 11 years, I am a full-time employee in the home mortgage industry and my husband has owned/operated his own business for 5 years. We have young children, and come from large families that frequently visit Cody.
It is a common struggle to find outdoor entertainment for the entire family, parents and children of all ages. This is a wonderful idea for locals, and visitors as well. I believe efforts can be made to protect the activities from bears, and education can be provided, as it is currently to those who enjoy the outdoors in the Cody/Yellowstone area.
    Thank you for your consideration.
