Congress has recently acted to send a big pile of money from the Abandoned Mine Land fund to Wyoming. Now we have to think about actually using this money for the purpose for which it is collected.

Wyoming miner killed at Black Thunder coal mine
WyoFile has confirmed that a coal miner was killed early this morning at the Black Thunder mine in southern Campbell County. Killed was Jacob Dowdy, age 24, who had worked at the mine for nearly three years.

Mead to visit Canada to talk coal and business alliances
Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead will visit several Canadian cities this month to strengthen alliances on potential coal exports and to foster other business ties between Wyoming and Canada. Mead told reporters during a press conference today that the trip is part of a larger effort to increase Wyoming’s business ties with the international community.

Wyo officials say DKRW's coal-to-liquids project is 'out of compliance'
After first trying to delay a hearing before Wyoming regulators to buy more time to modify its construction schedule, Houston-based DKRW Advanced Fuels LLC today formally withdrew its request to modify its plans for the proposed Medicine Bow Fuel & Power coal-to-gasoline plant in Carbon County. That means DKRW is formally out of compliance with its Industrial Siting Council permit, further threatening the company’s ability to secure financing for the project.
