A bison grazes as mist rises from the Yellowstone River in Hayden Valley. The valley is named for Ferdinand Vandeveer Hayden, who led a crew that surveyed the valley in 1871, leading to the creation of Yellowstone National Park.  (Jason Leland Plett/Flickr — click to enlarge)
