Judge overturns wind farm lease near Glenrock

A judge has struck down the state’s approval of a proposed major wind turbine lease slated for state land just outside Glenrock. The wind farm was one piece of a behemoth hydrogen clean energy project planned for state and private lands. The company behind the overall project said Monday it is committed to moving ahead with the controversial Pronghorn H2 Clean Hydrogen Project despite the ruling on the state lease, the Douglas Budget reports. Sheriff’s office hopes to raise pay to match Gillette police

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is down 21 positions, including seven vacancies in the Campbell County Detention Center and six on the streets. Hiring has been a struggle, as has retention. Since May 2023, 15 employees have left the Sheriff’s Office to work for the Gillette Police Department. Now the Sheriff’s Office wants to raise the starting salary for deputies and detention officers, the Gillette News Record reports. Read the full story.

With federal immigration detentions on the rise, Teton County businesses seek to understand their rights should Immigration and Customs Enforcement pay a visit. The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce recently invited an ACLU-Wyoming attorney to broach the subject at last week’s Business Over Breakfast event, Jackson Hole Community radio reports. CWD detected in new Sheridan hunt area

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is confirming the presence of chronic wasting disease for the first time in Elk Hunt Area 2 in the Sheridan Region. Game and Fish’s Wildlife Health Lab confirmed the always fatal condition in a bull elk euthanized due to suspected disease. The new area is surrounded by another elk hunt area where the disease was first detected in 2021. To ensure the public is informed, Game and Fish announces when CWD — 100% fatal in infected deer, elk and moose — is discovered in a new hunt area, The Sheridan Press reports. Read the full story.
