It’s been an unusual winter in Wyoming thanks to warm temperatures, record-breaking wind and, for the state’s cold-weather enthusiasts, not nearly enough snow.
Last Saturday, however, just enough white stuff had fallen in the Snowy Range Mountains to greet the year’s first full moon, which lit the way for an evening ski tour. Under the nearly cloudless sky, tree shadows cut across the glowing track as the wind whistled through the high branches.
Known as the Wolf Moon, Saturday’s showing marked the first supermoon of 2026.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, Maggie. Glad you found some snow. Thanks for all your great reporting!
