David Miller was born in the fall of 1944 to Annette Fleischbein Miller, when his father was with the Third Army in France. From 1946 to 1952, the family lived in Cheyenne, his dad’s hometown. In 1952 the family moved to Tulsa OK. After graduating from Tulsa Edison High School, David attended Grinnell College in Iowa. He earned a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Minnesota (after an unconscionably long time). For most of his career, David wrote training materials for various industries and the occasional book review essay for the Sewanee Review. He retired in 2011. Since 2017, he has been on the board of Clean Elections Minnesota and edits their newsletters. He lives in Minneapolis, MN, with his wife of 56 years, June Ito Miller. They have two very interesting children and four grandchildren.
