Former Cody resident charged with stalking former lawmaker

Authorities are seeking the arrest of a former Cody resident, alleging he stalked the former speaker of the Wyoming House of Representatives with harassing messages. Conner J. Valcarce, 31, is facing four misdemeanor charges of stalking, unlawful impersonation through electronic means, unlawful telephone calls and interference with a peace officer. Prosecutors assert Valcarce was behind a set of ominous emails and online comments sent to former state Rep. Colin Simpson and his family. When contacted by the Powell Tribune, Valcarce expressed surprise at the pending charges, saying he now lives “out east” and only visits Cody once or twice a year. Read the full story.
Wyoming Gaming Commission shuts down popular games

Recent visits to Uinta County by the Wyoming Gaming Commission, which shut down bingo and queen of hearts games at local businesses, have sparked anger, alarm and attempts to change Wyoming law. “It’s imperative with current events that we are clear — the Wyoming Gaming Commission isn’t arresting anyone and has not requested any charges against any person, business or vendor,” Uinta County Attorney Loretta Kallas responded online to an outpouring of community concern, the Uinta County Herald reports. WY Fresh Farm supporters protest Cheyenne’s plan to annex urban farm

About 50 people, many wearing green in support of WY Fresh Farm and Farmstand, packed the Cheyenne City Council chamber to protest the city’s plan to annex the farm. Council members heard just over two hours of comments from people who oppose the annexation. But Mayor Patrick Collins told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that many people’s claims about what could happen to the farm if annexed are misguided. The mayor said he has been attempting to work with the farm’s owners to make a list of farming activities that could be memorialized and protected for years to come. Read the full story.
Lack of ice, snow thwarts Pinedale’s fishing derby, winter carnival

Some of Sublette County’s favorite winter events have been canceled this year due to a lack of snow and ice. It’s the first time in more than four decades that Pinedale’s winter festivities have been impacted by unseasonably warm and dry weather. The Pinedale Winter Carnival, held the second weekend of February each year, will still take place this weekend, but with the lineup of events greatly reduced, the Pinedale Roundup reports.
