Wyoming airports use donations to support unpaid federal workers during shutdown

An office manager for the airport near Gillette is getting the word out about donations of food and household supplies to support her airport’s Transportation Security Agency employees, who have been working without pay for 43 days, Wyoming Public Radio reports. Cheyenne’s day shelter welcomes back unhoused community members

New leadership is inviting unhoused community members back to The Welcome Mat and offering a second chance to those previously banned from the day shelter, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports. Cheyenne’s only overnight homeless shelter rarely allows people to stay during the day, which makes the city’s only day shelter pretty important, according to the new director of the Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless. Converse County to expand Ayres Natural Bridge Park by 220 acres

Converse County is “under contract” to buy 220 acres surrounding the Ayres Natural Bridge Park for just under $1.7 million to preserve open space and enhance access to outdoor recreation, the Douglas Budget reports. Parishioners fight to keep historic church open

Roman Catholic church-goers and historic preservationists are pushing back against a decision by state Catholic leaders to no longer use the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church as a place of worship, the Rocket Miner reports. “This essentially removes the church from being a sacred space so that it can be sold for profits to help with the Foothill Drive campus they are trying to finance and build,” Rock Springs resident Mary Hamilton said.
