On a cool, clear morning, a couple of bikers took laps at the top of a hill that had been carved into dips and curves. Below, planks of wood roller-coastered across the red terrain, some curling up to the sky with a message: “SEND IT.”

Laramie’s new bike park, which sprawls behind the city’s recreation center, will have its grand opening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park has beginner, intermediate and advanced mountain bike features, including downhill trails, a skills course, progressive jump lines and Wyoming’s first asphalt pump track, according to the City of Laramie website.
The grand opening will include music, food trucks, micro-clinics and raffles.

An absolute blight and for what? Laramie is surrounded by bike-able public land.
