(News release) — The Wyoming Afterschool Alliance will join the national Afterschool Alliance in this year’s Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide series of events celebrating and supporting afterschool programs, on October 19th and 20th.  Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide rally for afterschool programs. More than 8,000 events are expected to take place this year across the country and at U.S. military bases worldwide.  

The Wyoming Afterschool Alliance’s Lights On Afterschool event will be at the Hilton Garden Inn & UW Conference Center all day during the conference on October 19th and 20th. The Lights On balloon will be prominently displayed amidst the workshops, keynote addresses, and round table discussions.

Special guests are expected to include Jillian Balow, Wyoming State Superintendent; Honorable Nancy Freudenthal, U.S. District Court Judge for Wyoming; Pete Gosar, Chairman for Wyoming State Board of Education; Lori Hoffner, Youth Development Trainer; Gayle Manchin, President of the West Virginia State Board of Education; and Ruby Payne, Expert on Overcoming Economic Class-barriers.

This Lights On Rally is specifically focused on Afterschool Programs in Wyoming. Out-of-school-time educators, afterschool program staff, and early childhood educators are invited to attend.
