Jackson man dies after Dec. 20 avalanche, intense rescue on Teton Pass

A 31-year-old skier died last week at an Idaho hospital from injuries suffered in a Dec. 20 avalanche on Teton Pass. He was buried in a slide while skiing with a partner in “The Claw,” a challenging backcountry area with steep, north-facing chutes and complex timbered terrain known for elevated avalanche hazard. City of Cody phases out penny

As the federal government phases out the penny, Cody is beginning to do the same. Although the city will continue to accept pennies, it no longer hands them out as change and instead rounds cash transactions down to the nearest 5 cents. Casper hospital reinstates mask mandate as flu cases surge

Mandatory masking is returning to Banner Health in Casper as flu season continues and the number of cases rise. All visitors, patients and staff are now required to wear a mask in all patient areas of the hospital, with visitors encouraged to wear masks in non-patient areas as well. Patients, meanwhile, are not required to wear masks in their own hospital room, Oil City News reports. Read the full story.
