UPDATE: The deadline for submissions has now passed. Thank you for your submissions. We’ll be announcing winners on Tuesday, July 24.

With the longest day of 2012 looming tomorrow, there’s no better time to capture the fleeting magic of Wyoming’s delicate, oh-so-short summer season — not to mention, all the time in the world to set up your shot of an unforgettable sunset.

That’s why, this week, WyoFile is excited to announce our 2012 Summer Snap Challenge. WyoFile is seeking compelling photography of what summertime in Wyoming means to you. What image can you capture that tells the story of this unique state in this treasured time of year? Children — or creatures — at play? The glint of sunlight off a rock face or glacier? The familiar processions of urban commuters, caught in an unexpectedly picturesque tableau? The only limit is your imagination, and your viewfinder.

The WyoFile staff will select one exceptional photo as our Summer Snap Challenge champion, and the winner will receive a Flickr Pro account and $50! Runners-up will be featured in our regular “Photo Friday” series here at WyoFile.com.

WyoFile will accept submissions for the Summer Snap Challenge from today through midnight on Tuesday, July 17. All photos should be sent to erik@wyofile.com with the “Summer Snap Challenge” in the subject line. Contestants are free to submit as many photos as they like during the three-week contest. By submitting a photo, contestants agree to give WyoFile permission to publish their work in Photo Friday or possibly alongside future articles, where each artist will be gratefully credited for his or her work. Happy snapping!
