Governor requests $87M for Veterans’ Home remodel

Gov. Mark Gordon is again recommending the state spend $87 million to renovate and update the Veterans’ Home of Wyoming in Buffalo. The project is intended to “update and modernize” the home’s aging assisted living facility. Sen. Barry Crago, R-Buffalo, said the project has been identified as one of the top needs in the state’s capital construction project list, the Buffalo Bulletin reports. Read the full story.


VA opens new, upgraded clinic in Rock Springs

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs opened a new clinic in Rock Springs on Dec. 11. The new building, just down the street from the old clinic, features an additional 2,500 square feet and on-site physical therapy services. The project broke ground last October and finished up before winter weather settled in this year, Wyoming Public Radio reports. Read the full story.


Private equity-backed biz wins restaurant contract for Jackson Hole Airport

Jedediah’s restaurant is leaving the Jackson Hole Airport after a 4-1 vote. Mike Gierau, a state senator and businessman, has operated Jedediah’s out of the airport for almost 20 years. Now the food and beverage contract, which generates about $6.2 million a year, will go to Jackson Hole restaurant owner Gavin Fine. He won the contract alongside Tailwind Hospitality, a national airport concessions business primarily owned by a Boston-based private equity firm, the Jackson Hole Daily reports. Two men taken to hospital after compressor station explosion in Crook County

Two men were hospitalized after an explosion last week at a compressor station in Crook County. Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said a 40-year-old man heard the explosion and found two 28-year-old men who were injured and took them to Gillette. The men were working when they opened a pipe valve and it exploded, the Gillette News Record reports. Read the full story.
