While Andrew Joannides leads the nonprofit Wyoming Agriculture in the Classroom by day, he moonlights as a hobby photographer when he has the time.
Early Wednesday presented the perfect opportunity for Joannides to pick up his camera after his wife called him to take a look outside. It was there that he spotted the Beaver Moon, the closest and brightest supermoon of the year.
It’s “rare to see the moon sitting over the South Laramie Range like that,” Joannides told WyoFile. “The sunrise reflected onto the range and the western sky. Was an incredible sight with such a clear view of the moon and some clouds hovering over it.”
Joannides and other skygazers won’t have to wait too long for the next supermoon, which is expected to appear Dec. 4.

that is the moon that traditionally means the time is right to start trapping beavers. wish I had beavers to trap around here.
Loved the “Beaver Moon” photo. Wyoming is a wonderful place to be at.
