Uinta County residents pack meeting to ask about proposed data center

Discussions regarding Prometheus Hyperscale’s proposed Evanston data center grew tense during a standing-room-only Uinta County commissioners’ meeting May 19 in Mountain View. One resident asked each commissioner how they would vote on the proposed data center. Commissioners responded that they don’t have enough information to answer that question. Cheyenne residents voice distrust, data center fears during business park rezone

The Cheyenne City Council approved, on second reading, a rezone affecting more than 1,600 acres in two eastern Cheyenne business parks. The rezoning ordinance will go before the council for a final vote June 8. The 8-1 approval followed more than an hour of public comment focused on landscaping requirements, future development and ongoing concerns about data centers, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports. Pixar filmmakers discuss research trip to Yellowstone in new short

A documentary short details a research trip by Pixar filmmakers to Yellowstone National Park to gather facts and inspiration for the animated film “Hoppers,” released in March. YouTube account FirstExtras posted the behind-the-scenes doc showing the Hoppers Pixar crew watching wildlife and checking out an abandoned beaver lodge, Buckrail reports. “Going to Yellowstone, getting to be in nature, being among the animals was very crucial in how we made this movie and how we approached it,” Director Daniel Chong said in the short film. Drought takes hold in Big Horn Basin

The Bureau of Reclamation’s forecast for water runoff in the Bighorn River Basin reflects a mild winter, significantly less snowpack and a lack of precipitation. The May through July inflow to Bighorn Lake, for example, is forecast to be approximately 407,000 acre-feet, which is 38% of the 30-year average. Currently, Bighorn Lake is 78% full. Predictions for other reservoirs also anticipate below-average inflows, the Powell Tribune reports. Read the full story.
Newcastle officer jailed after alleged gun threat incident

A now-former Newcastle police officer has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery after he allegedly threatened a woman with a handgun during a domestic dispute earlier this month. “Nicholas Kaminski has been relieved from duty with the Newcastle Police Department as of May 22, 2026. There is an ongoing investigation into the events that led to his arrest,” Police Chief Derek Thompson told the News Letter Journal. Read the full story.
