Park County Republican Party expresses ‘no confidence’ in Senate candidate

Leaders of the Park County Republican Party are denouncing state Senate candidate R. J. Kost for an ad they say encouraged Democrats and others to change their party affiliation to participate in the Republican primary election. The party’s central committee voted overwhelmingly to formally express “no confidence” in Kost’s campaign for Senate District 19. For his part, Kost says his ad was only intended to inform voters of Wednesday’s 5 p.m. deadline to declare or change their political affiliation, the Powell Tribune reports. Read the full story.


School board votes 4-3 in favor of total cellphone ban in all schools, will hold public hearings

The Campbell County School District is looking at a total cellphone ban for grades K-12, but the school board will have to hear public comment first. The board voted 4-3 to ban cellphones for all grades from the start to the end of the school day. This is not a final decision. The board must hold two public hearings about the cellphone policy before it takes effect. The first public hearing will be at the board’s May 26 meeting, the Gillette News Record reports. Wyoming will continue to grow its reputation as the Cowboy State after the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association officially signed a development deal in late April to relocate its national headquarters, the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy to Cheyenne. Estimates indicate that the transition from Colorado Springs, Colorado, which has served as the organization’s home since 1979, will bring $256.2 million to Laramie County following a $15 million commitment from the state to support the move, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports. The Casper Fire-EMS Department responded to roughly 500 more incidents in 2025 than the year prior, with a slight uptick in fires specifically. Compared to 2024, the department responded to 11 more fires while calls for emergency medical services jumped by more than 500.
