Yellowstone hikers injured in bear attack on Mystic Falls Trail

A pair of hikers was injured Monday by one or more bears in Yellowstone National Park. The hikers were on the Mystic Falls Trail near Old Faithful when the incident occurred, Yellowstone National Park said. This is the first bear incident in the park this year. Nature lovers flock to Park County as gate swings open at Yellowstone National Park

As nature lovers poured through downtown Cody on opening day for Yellowstone National Park’s East Gate, the smell of bacon wafted through the air as piping hot pancakes fried on dual griddles. For the past dozen years, the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce and celebrity guests have dished up a free pancake breakfast to celebrate the spring park entrance opening. It’s just one way the gateway city lures visitors through the East Entrance. Brinton Museum examines Battle of the Little Bighorn through Indigenous eyes

On June 25, 1876, Northern Arapaho, Cheyenne and Lakota warriors defeated the U.S. 7th Cavalry in southeastern Montana. The Battle of the Little Bighorn was the culmination of the Plains Indian Wars but it later led to a violent crackdown by the U.S. Army and, eventually, containment on reservations. This June will be the 150th anniversary of the battle, known to the tribes as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. The Brinton Museum outside Sheridan recently unveiled an exhibit of that history from the Indigenous perspective. Laramie County Sheriff’s Office annual report shows 57% increase in arrests since 2022

The increase accompanies a local crime rate that is 50% lower than the national rate.
