Free lung screenings offered for uranium workers

— August 2, 2013

(Press release) Uranium miners, millers and ore transporters who worked from 1942 to 1971 should take advantage of the upcoming Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program clinic.

The free and confidential health screenings are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 8-9 at Sage Primary Care, 1020 S. Conwell St.

Clinics include vital sign measurements, breathing tests, physical exams, questionnaire reviews, pulmonary rehabilitation counseling and blood draws. Casper Medical Imaging will provide on-site chest radiograph services, including a chest X-ray.

Exposure to radiation, dust, fumes, smoke and chemicals can put workers at risk for serious lung conditions and health problems.

The Miners Clinic of Colorado and the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program at National Jewish Health have cared for miners and uranium workers for 20 years. The clinics are offered in partnership with Wyoming Medical Center.

Call (877) 255-5864 to schedule your screening.
