Reflections on Diesel from Coal Pts 1,2,3
Jalan Crossland does a delightfully disquieting song about a “Trailer Park Fire”. That is a form of unexpected oxidation.
Dispassionate analyses which I would like to see (for domestic projects):
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to find, mine and refine uranium, transport and convert to fuel rods, use in power plant, dispose of fuel rods, in terms of pounds CO2 per KWH.
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to prospect and drill oil wells, produce, transport, refine, deliver, and burn diesel and gasoline in vehicles, in terms of pounds CO2 per KWH.
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to mine coal, transport to power plants, burn, run pollution controls, and dispose of wastes, in terms of pounds CO2 per KWH.
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to find, drill, produce, transport and burn natural gas in power plants, in terms of pounds of CO2 per kwh.
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to till and plant fields in corn, fertilize, harvest, transport and refine to ethanol, transport ethanol to markets, burn in vehicles, in pounds of CO2 per KWH.
Cradle to grave hydrocarbon usage to manufacture, transport, erect and maintain big wind turbines, decommission them, in pounds of CO2 per KWH.
Compare to coal to diesel technology.
Those are the facts I want to see.
